And Acoustic Tutorials!

Here I've assembled some Steve Earle lyrics to some of his most popular songs. His music has gone thru some changes from the early days in Nashville Tenn. Below is a bit of history that covers the remarkable performer.

Stephan Fain Earle was born in Monroe Virginia but grew up in Schertz Texas. He left school in the 9th grade and eventually ended up in Houston trying to carve out a career in music. At age 31 in 1985, Earle recorded his first album entitled Guitar Town. The Album went to the top of the country charts and the song Guitar Town, made it to #7.

Steve Earle, Randy Travis and Dwight Yoakham all came along in country music around the same time and they were putting a fresh new sound onto the face of country music. Earle started his career as a songwriter before he released his first album and wrote for Vince Gill, Carl Perkins and Steve Wariner. Travis Tritt had a #7 hit with "Sometimes She Forgets", which was written by Steve Earl.

But success can also bring its share of problems, and drugs and alcohol fueled Earls. He had been addicted to heroine at an early age. Finally in 1993 he spent some time in jail and decided then it was time to clean up his act.

He managed to beat the demons and has been clean now since 1995. He has been married 7 times, and to the same woman twice ... but his current marriage to Allison Moorer seems very solid. Steve Earle has two boys, Justin and Ian from two of his previous wives.

Steve Earle is also a book author, a playwright, a singer-songwriter, a political activist, a TV actor in the HBO series "The Wire" and now owns his own record label and plays about 200 shows a year.
