Hank Jr got the nickname Bocephus from his dad, who picked up the name from watching a comedian at the Grand Old Opry. That name was the comedian's dummy's name.

In the beginning stages of his musical career, Hank Jr was simply an imitation of his farther and his music. This was because his mother Audrey thought this was the best path for young Hank.

By the mid 1970's Hank began to explore more sounthern rock avenues in his music and had great success. He also had battles with drugs and alcohol in the mid 1970's.

Aug 8th 1975 changed Hanks life. He suffered a mountain climbing accident on Ajax Mountain near Missoula Montana that was so severe, it took two years and 9 surgeries to fix Hanks shattered face. Upon his return, he grew a full beard to hide the sacrs and adopted the cowboy hat and dark sunglasses.
