Tim McGraw has had 21 #1 hits on the Billboard Hot Country charts to date and of course is the husband of Faith Hill,
another country star in her own right.
Tim Mcgraw's real name at birth on 1st May, 1967 was Samuel Timothy Smith. So how old is Tim McGraw you ask? He'll be 42 yrs old in 2009.
Tim grew up believing his step father, Horace Smith, was his actual biological father, but discovering his birth certificate by accident, his mother was forced to tell Tim the truth at age 11.
His biological dad of course turned out to be baseball player Tug McGraw who pitched for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies. Tug died at age 59
in 2004 but Tim and him were best of friends right up until his death.
The death of Keith Whitley, whom Tim idolized, caused him to quit college and head for Nashville to get a career going in music. And I remember that
day when Whitley's death was announced on TNN as it was called back then. That was a very sad day indeed. Keith was from Sandy Hook, KY (pop 1000).
Tim McGraw's very first #1 was Don't Take The Girl, from his second album. Since then he has had 11 albums debut at #1, produced 14 #1 hits and has won
many ACMA and CMA awards ... but the one award Tim has never won is Entertainer Of The Year.
But with touring partner and wife Fairth Hill, they did have the highest
grossing country music tour of all time.
Tim has also showcased his acting talents being in several movies. He is set to begin another film playing the husband of Sandra Bullock
and will be starring in an upcoming film The Blind Side, that is based on a novel by Michael Lewis. Shooting begins in Atlanta Georgia at
the end of Apr 09.
So watch for Tim McGraw perhaps at an Academy Awards show in the near future and more likely than not, more #1 hits down the road. And stay tuned to this biography of Tim McGraw
